it doesn't get much better than a good falafel. there's a terrific strictly-falafel-and-fries place near where i'm currently living in d.c. this summer called
amsterdam falafel. i've been going to this place for over 2 years, and the falafel is consistently great, the toppings for the pita are extremely fresh and tasty, and the fries are as good as any i've ever had. my only beef with this place is a complaint i have against many good restaurants in d.c. and new york: cash only (although they now have an a.t.m. in the restaurant).
when i lived in new york a few years ago, i would often go to a little restaurant in the east village called
chickpea that has excellent falafel, kebab, and shawarma (beef, lamb, turkey, and chicken). there are two chickpea locations in manhattan (both on or just off of 3rd avenue - at st. marks and at east 14th street).

i urge anybody who is a kebab/falafel/shawarma/doner fan to submit their favorite spots anywhere in the world.

Hey, there's also a great falafel place in Georgetown called George's King of Falafel (or something like that) near 28th Street. It's quite tasty!! Try it out and tell me how you like it!
